The center of Chile!

Hi Family!

Well, this week was kind of crazy, but it was also really good!

There were 3 things that happened that made the week kind of crazy, which were:

1.  The earthquake - So we felt it, and we got the zone all gathered together, and waited for instructions. We were in the Lota chapel for a few hours, and then we got the all clear that we were safe to go home. It was just kind of a surprise, but the emergency preparation worked well, and we were all safe.

2.  The 18th of September - It is basically the 4th of July from here in Chile, and it was really fun. We had an activity with the branch, and had a full day P-Day. We went to the beach and had a barbecue in a member's house (as shown in the pictures).

3.  Zone Conference - We had a great zone conference with the zone of Coronel (us) and the zone of Lebu. My companion and I talked about the Area Book and the way to take care of it. Other topics were: the agendas, general missionary health, the Atonement, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is always a blessing to get together with other missionaries and the Mission President. There was a really strong spirit there.
Anyway, those, along with a ton of other things, are what happened this week. Everyone is fine down here, we are working well and Elder Sierra is dying in a good way!

Have a great week! I love you guys!

P.S. Will you guys be able to come down at the end of my mission? If you want to, there are 2 convert families that would love to have you all over for lunch. Just so you know, my official release date is June 16th, 2016.  Let me know what you think.

Hola Familia!

Last week was a little harder, but this week was good. We got a ton of stuff done, the other Elders had some surprise baptisms, and we just had a really good time. Things are looking up for our zone, and our sector has some new light dawning as well.

I know that this might be the lamest weekly email ever, but a ton of people wrote me this week, and I didn't even have time to write all of them. I will be making a voice recording (hopefully) next week so I can get to everyone, but the most important part is that all is well in Zion. I love you guys, and I love this amazing work! Have an amazing week!

Well, this week went really well. We worked hard, we worked with the members, taught a lot of people, did some service, and everything else. We had a great effort this week, and in the end, it didn't really turn out.

Not to say it negatively, actually I was pretty happy with what we did. I thought we gave it an awesome effort, but sometimes Satan wins the little battles with the agency of the investigators, and other things. We have been talking about the things that we can do to make this next week even better, and so I am confident that when I write an email in seven more days, that we will have had the success that we are looking for.

I also made a voice recording talking about how last week went, so I hope you guys suck every moment of happiness out of that.

I love you guys! I will write more next week about the Christmas wish list!

Have a great week!

Hi Everyone!

So first off, the reason why I am writing you on Tuesday is because we had the mission council with all the leaders of the mission on Monday. It was really good, and we all came off with lots of great ideas and thoughts to help out our zone.

President Bluth put a huge focus on the art of finding people to teach, and the faith to do it. We even went as far as leaving the mission office to find people to teach in the office itself. The assistants (Elder Cupello and Elder Woods) had all of the zone leaders and sister trainers go out to bring people back to teach on the spot. We were able to bring in 2 people to teach, an older lady and man. They were just walking by and we invited them in, and had a great lesson.

Also this week we had a baptism! E got baptized on Saturday, and it was a great service. It was kind of scary, because on her way in the font, she slipped and fell in the water. We made lots of jokes about how she had to get double dipped to get clean enough.

For the next few weeks coming up, we are going to focus a lot on the number of people that we get in church with a baptismal date. We are pretty confident that if we do that, we will be able to help more people get baptized.

Anyway, that is about all for this week. I have also been a little sick. but nothing too big.

Hey, it's Transfer Time!

I'm staying here. I will be killing Elder Sierra here in Lota in 6 more weeks. Besides that, this cambio wasn't this big. Mostly, there was a good number of people that died (missionary lingo for completing their mission!), including my dad (more missionary lingo for their trainer/first companion), Elder Christensen, Elder Letelier, Elder Hurtado (first District Leader) and a few others. It was sad to see them go, but it happens!

Elder Hendricks

Elder Letelier

Elder Hurtado

Saying goodbye to my dad, Elder Christensen!

So the investigators are all doing good, and if everything turns out well, we should have some baptisms this week (lots of prayers needed). It has been fun to be here, to work with the members and investigators because I have gotten to get to know a lot of great people here in Lota.

That is it for this week. I love you guys. Pumped to hear about Carson in BYU and how sad he will be when MIZZOU crushes thier faces.

Lots of love,

Dear Family--

Well, it was a good one. some stuff happened.

First off, I GOT A PACKAGE! The missionaries that brought it down asked me why my mom had sent me a mattress, and I had no idea what they were talking about. They then gave me the package, and I promise you that I was the happiest missionary south of the equator!

It had a sweet new side bag, other things that I needed, and a ton of great food!

I also enjoyed getting all of the updated pictures. It was great to be able to add to my trunky collection. All in all, it was an amazing package. Thank you so much mom! Pictures included.

We have been working a ton with a few people, and it looks like E will be getting baptized this weekend! That will be awesome. We are also preparing a good number of people for September. I have also been a little sick, so that has been part of the week, but it isn't that bad.

You always have to keep working and preparing for the upcoming months as a missionary. I think that calling a mission "The longest continuos planning session" as a world record would be pretty accurate.

Other cool things:
  • We look like as a zone that we will be able to make our goal of 8 for the month of August!! The news will all be coming up in the email that come up.
  • I felt my first earthquake! It was cool, but it surprised me. I was (rather shamefully) on the pit stop. It was a strange experience.
  • We have a cambio coming up in a week. I will be letting you guys know if I will kill Elder Sierra or no. Get excited for that.
  • We celebrated the birthday of Elder Thomson. It was great!

And that would be it! I love you guys! I pray for you all every day! Stay safe, and don't let Satan win even the smallest battles!

Dear Family--

Well, this was a good week. Thoroughly enjoyable. I even was happy enough to get you guys a voice recording, so you know it was good!

I basically said all the things here in this recording, so I don't really have that much to write. This is probably a pretty boring letter for you guys, but it was one of those "building" weeks. The mission is about 75 building weeks and a good 30 weeks of really exciting crazy stuff (transfers, baptisms, other stuff) and this was a really good one of those weeks. We worked hard, had some investigators in church, and they are still progressing.

All is well in Zion.

Make sure you tell Tanner Happy Birthday for me! Let him know how happy and proud I am of him.

LOVE YOU GUYS! Have a fantastic week!
